About the church

Our History As A Congregation

Community of Grace held its' first worship service on January 6th of 1996.

The church was born through pain and many tears by a group of lay people who believed that the Lord is in the business of restoring His people. Believing that the Lord does this through appropriate Biblical accountability, His love, His forgiveness, His mercy and His grace.

After starting the church the leaders called Pastor Brad to serve after a time of healing and a process of restoration which over seen by numerous caregivers. Karen Reynolds was called to serve as the worship leader at the same time.

In November of 1996 the Lord brought us to our present location where we continue to experience growth numerically and even more important spiritually. We believe that the Lord has truly called us to our location and the neighborhood around us.

In July of 1999 we called and installed Amos Gray to serve as our full-time youth pastor.

In January 2000 Jeanne Johnson accepted the call to become our part-time children's pastor.

In February of 2000 we established a "Building Study Team" to review our space needs and recommend to us a long-term plan for meeting our space needs. We strongly suspect that we will be building in the near future.

In January of 2002 we moved into a new, larger building.

August 2002 We're still here!

Our Philosophy Of Ministry

Too often we think of churches as places where people must have it all together or they will be put down and judged. But, that is not what Jesus is about. Nor is that what a church is to be about.

Here at Community of Grace we believe that the Lord has called us to be a "safe place" for people to grow in the Lord and His grace... looking together to the One who has it all together. Because of the painful, but extremely blessed Spirit-led birthing process of the congregation we believe that as a community of believers we understand pain and hurt. We intentionally are sensitive in our striving for this church to be a "safe Place" where the Lord's people come to grips with their sin and deep hurts, but ultimately experience God's forgiveness, great love and total acceptance through Jesus Christ. We want you to know that there is nothing "too bad" or "too great" that God can not forgive and heal.

God works with us "where we are" and in His grace and mercy invites to grow. After all, we are all "works in process." Therefore, we at Community of Grace we pray that we will always be a "safe place" to sort through any pain or sin and ultimately experience joy-filled healing and restoration... with an intimate relationship with the Lord.

We also approach everything that we do as a church by asking, "What does the Lord want us to do." We believe that it is most important to do what the Lord desires to bless as opposed to asking Him to bless what we want to do. Therefore, we desire to make decisions regarding our ministry based upon prayer-filled consensus. Prayer covers everything that we are and do.
