"This Task Begins With A Lot of Prayer!" |
Have you worked on writing a Life's Mission Statement? see sermon: God, 2003 & Me
Today is part of the season of Epiphany: Epiphany deals with your purpose in life!
Take a look at the visit of the Magi first:
| After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod,
Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the
east and have come to worship him." When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written: " 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'" Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him." After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. Matthew 2:1-12 |
So, Epiphany is not just a time of remembering, but- remembering and doing!!!!
Jesus said in Matthew 5:14-16:
| "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. |
A few questions:
I have a feeling:
Romans 10:8-15
| But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your
heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to
shame. "For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" |
Today's goal: Is to give you a very simple way to begin to reach just one person in your life. And this sort of task begins with a LOT of prayer. I am going to make it simple, hopefully not simplistic. And my prayer is that you use it between now and the time that the person comes to faith.
I want you to pray about who it is that you are to reach. Ask the Lord to lay this person on your heart.
The goal is for this someone to come into the Kingdom of God.
1. Pray for ONE person that you are to reach
1. for ONE minute everyday
1. at ONE o'clock
When you encounter Jesus, you will never be the same again!
